History

The Federal University of Technology, Babura is owned by the Federal Government of Nigeria. The University’s campus is located in Babura, the headquarters of Babura Local Government Area of Jigawa State, Northwestern Nigeria. The University’s host town offers the charm of a small agricultural town, with easy access to major metropolitan areas of Dutse, Kano, Bauchi, Maiduguri, and Kaduna. It also shares border with the neighbouring Niger Republic.

The University is one of four universities established in the second quarter of 2021 to expand access to, and improve quality of, university education in Nigeria, as well as to address the need of improving medical care delivery to Nigerians, accelerating its technological development and ensuring equity in the distribution of higher institutions of learning across the country.

FUTB took-off from its temporary site at the Jigawa State College of Remedial and Advanced Studies (JICORAS), the University shall move to its permanent site located on a 606.4398 hectares land at 1 Km along the Babura – Kano Road, Babura town. The University currently offers various courses, mostly in Technology, Computing and Sciences.
