The Management of the Federal University of Technology, Babura, has suspended two students – Sulaiman Hudu Muhammad (Department of Applied Biology) and Yasir Umar (Department of Applied Physics) – found to have been involved in “physical fighting”, according to individual letters to each from the Registrar, signed by the Acting Academic Secretary, Mohammed Bashir Tahir. The students had earlier appeared before the Students’ Examinations, Misconduct, Disciplinary and Sexual Harassment Committee on Thursday, 5th July, 2024 and admitted to the misconduct.
Each letter said: “By the University regulations, this misconduct is punishable under Section B(ii) of the Student Handbook which stipulates that Any student found guilty of any major misconduct shall be rusticated from the University for two years with the cancellation of the result(s) in the case of examination misconduct. However, as a first-time offender, the University Management at its 26th Regular Meeting held on Wednesday, 14th August, 2024, in her magnanimity decided to reduce your punishment from two years to two consecutive semesters, effective from the second semester of the 2023/2024 Academic Session. Therefore, you are SUSPENDED from the University Two (2) Semesters, effective from the second semester of the 2023/2024 Academic Session.”
