Pro Chancellor, Council Members Impressed by Infrastructure for Teaching, Research

The Pro Chancellor and Chairman Governing Council of the Federal University of Technology, Babura, Prof. Oniomawo Ignatius Akhakhira, has advised students of FUT Babura to seize the unique opportunity they have to learn, given the top rated facilities being put in place and the highly qualified lecturers tutoring them.

He made the remark during a tour of the Permanent Campus by the Council members, at one kilometre from the town along Kano road, when the entourage entered a 200 Level Chemistry class.

“We have seen a lot of things here, which have impressed us a lot, so I want to say that you students are privileged to study in such an environment. Make sure you take the best advantage of the facilities and staff you have. I understand this your tutor is a Professor, just know that in other places students at your level do not get to see a Professor. We want you to know that we are here to help solve the problems     of the university and our wish is that you will all graduate with flying colours,” the Pro Chancellor told the students. He urged the students not to disappoint their parents who have invested heavily in them.

Dr. Dickson A. O. Akoh, a member of the Council gave the class, through the Class representative, a token cash donation as incentive to show how much the Council supports them.

Earlier during the tour the Chairman and members of the Council at various points had openly commended the Vice Chancellor and his team for putting up an impressive level of infrastructural development, within the short time of the University’s establishment. Dr. Umma Abdullahi Getso and Mr. Charles Iwuchukwu in separate comments said that FUT Babura has recorded tremendous developmental strides, in contrast to many other institutions in similar circumstances.

The tour took the Council members to inspect the completed Schools of Applied Science and Engineering, Physical Planning Unit Complex, Central Store, University fencing, Gate and Safety House as well as procurement of basic laboratory equipment for the School of Applied Sciences. Other projects toured at advance stages of completion or furnishing included the School of information and Communication Technology, University Library, Centre for information Technology, a 96 bed space hostel, mechanical workshop at School of Engineering; and a dual carriageway road with drainages on both sides from the gate to the School of Science.
