The Management of the Federal University of Technology, Babura, has expelled four students – Abubakar Adamu (Department of Computer Science), Abubakar Surajo Garba (Department of Computer Science), Imran Rabiu (Department of Biological Sciences) and Mubarak Bashir Yusuf (Department of Computer Science) – found to have been involved in “physical fighting and use of weapons”, according to individual letters to each from the Registrar, signed by the Acting Academic Secretary, Mohammed Bashir Tahir. The students had earlier appeared before the Students’ Examinations, Misconduct, Disciplinary and Sexual Harassment Committee on Thursday, 11th July, 2024 (except Abubakar S. Garba who appeared on 15th July) and admitted to the misconduct (which took place on 2nd July).
Each letter said: “By the University regulations, this misconduct is punishable under Section A(i) of the Student Handbook which stipulates that Disturbance of Peace: All cases of disturbance of peace such as fighting, assaulting, abusing or threatening of staff or students etc., would also be brought to the Students Disciplinary Committee. All proven cases shall attract expulsion from the University. Therefore, you are EXPELLED from the University IMMEDIATELY. You are also required to return all school property, including ID card, and any other official materials, to the office of the Registrar. Additionally, you are no longer permitted to enter the University campus or participate in any school related activities.”
